Sidi Ilujinle: Tunde Kelani returns with adaptation of Wole Soyinka’s ‘Lion and The Jewel’

Tunde Kelani’s adaptation of Lion and The Jewel set for release.

Legendary filmmaker, Tunde Kelani is set to drop a new movie, ‘Sidi Ilujinle’. The movie, an adaptation of literary icon, Wole Soyinka’s ‘Lion and The Jewel’ is set for a December release.

‘Sidi Ilujinle’ stars an array of reputable thespians including veterans, Adebayo Salami and Lanre Hassan. Others include, October 1 actor, Ibrahim Chatta, Richard Tanksley and Aishat Onitiri who plays Sidi.

The movie which is an adaptation of the 55-year-old book by the Nobel Laureate is a blend of comedy, poetry and prose. It centers on the tussle for Sídí, the most beautiful and now famous girl in Ìlújinlẹ̀, between Baroka, the Baalẹ and Lion of Ìlújinlẹ̀ and Lakunlé, the educated school teacher.
