By President-elect Bola Tinubu will be awarded the prestigious Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on May 25, preceding his inauguration on May 29.
Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima will also receive the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on the same day.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, unveiled the schedule of activities for the 2023 Presidential Inauguration during a press briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.
Traditionally, the outgoing president confers the GCFR honor upon the incoming president, with an exception made in 2010 when the Council of State conferred it on Goodluck Jonathan after the passing of Umar Yar’Adua.
The events will commence with a dinner honoring outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari on May 23.
