Manchester City’s all-time highest goal scorer, Sergio Aguero might be on the verge of ending his playing career due to cardiac complications.

The Argentine, who currently plies his trade with Barcelona, developed the heart problem while playing against Alaves – his first ever start for the La Liga giant. He lasted only 41 minutes before collapsing on the pitch as he struggled to breathe.

With five games played so far and one goal scored in the process, Aguero’s condition will not allow him play for the next three months. This didn’t look bad not until when his not-so-promising medical condition was released.

According to Catalunya Radio, the 33-year-old has been diagnosed of Cardiac arrhythmia — a complex condition which involves an abnormality of heart’s rhythm. That is, the heart might be beating too slow or too fast which, according to Manchester World News, can range from a minor inconvenience to an illness outright life-threatening.

The complexity and incompatibility of the situation with professional sport had seen Aguero advised to hang his boots. But the experienced frontman has shrugged off the retirement idea, stating that he will not rush into a decision about his future while responding to the speculation.

In his recent post on his Twitter handle, Aguero remains hopeful and optimistic about his future.

“To address the rumours, I can say that I am following the advice of the club’s doctors, completing tests and treatment and seeing my progress after 90 days. Always positive,” he had tweeted earlier.

Aguero’s heart problem came few months after Inter Milan and Denmark playmaker, Christian Eriksen experienced the same during the Euro 2020 game. Eriksen had slumped on the pitch during a group match against Finland. The medical team were quick to resuscitate him while his teammates formed a shield around him.

As it stands, Eriksen has been banned by Italian football which means his playing days with Inter Milan is over. He has also been advised to retire from playing football — an advice which was also assented by former Bolton Wanderers player, Muamba, who experienced same fate in 2012 and was forced to retire.
