Senator Tokunbo Abiru Facilitates 16 Transformers, 3 Hospitals, 1 Stadium, 1 ICT Centre, 1 Market, Over 200 Solar Street Lights, 33 Classrooms In 14 Months
The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Tokunbo Abiru at a media parley organized over the weekend shared some of his achievements in the last 14 months representing the District.

Addressing members of the fourth estate of the realm at his constituency located on Beach Road, Ikorodu, Senator Abiru who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Industries said it gladdens his heart to be giving an account of his stewardship since being sworn-in on December 15, 2020, as the Senator of the Federal Republic, noting that he became a senator at a critical time in the country’s history.
“I came in at a critical period in the nation’s history. It was a time we were slowly coming out of recession, which was also worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic,” he averred.

Stating with his contribution to improving the quality of education in the District, Senator Abiru said aside from bills, motions, petitions and other oversight functions he has carried out, he facilitated the construction of 24 classrooms at Aga Primary School located in Borokini area, Ikorodu, equipped with complements of furniture and 16 toilets and Solar-Powered Borehole.
A similar gesture was also extended to Ibeju-Lekki where two blocks of 6 classrooms were facilitated at RCM Primary School lwerekun, another 1 block of 3 classrooms in Ajelogo Primary School, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, and an ICT centre in Igbobi Junior High School, Somolu Lagos.
Concerned about the health status of the people of Lagos East Senatorial District, the #DoingGood Senator facilitated the construction of a 40-bed Health facility and Dental Centre at the Ikorodu Campus of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), now known as the Lagos State University of Science and Technology and also installed 200-solar-powered street lights in the only State-owned University of technology.

“In the same manner, another 30-Bed Health facility at Mascara Health Centre in Agboiyi Ketu LCDA was also provided to the people. Likewise, another 40-bed is under construction at Isiu, Ikorodu North LCDA,” the Senator said at the parley.
In contributing to socio-economic development and recreation, Senator Adetokunbo Mukhail Abiru facilitated a mini-stadium in Epe, remodelled the popular fish market in the town and also stated that plans are underway to provide grants to market women across the district.

Addressing the media, he said,” in Epe, a 960-spectator capacity mini-stadium was also facilitated for the benefit of people, especially the youth. The two-pavilion sports facility is equipped with Basketball and Volleyball courts and is almost ready for commissioning.

“Equally, the popular Oluwo Fish Market in Epe has also been remodelled. I have rehabilitated the entire market and increased the number of shops from 259 to 319 comprising of lock-up shops, open sheds and 48 toilets.”
He stated further that to empower businesses to thrive through the creation of enabling environment, he has facilitated the supply and installation of transformers in 16 different locations in the District namely; Ito Progressive CDA, Ito Isiu; Igbopa Ifesowopo CDA, Ijede; Ire Ifelodun CDA, Igbogbo-Bayeku; Magodo Community CDA Oke Ota Ona, Ikorodu; Ikorodu GRA 2, Ibeshe Igbogbo-Bayeku; Ifeloju Abule Eko, Ijede Ikorodu; Sekungba CDA ikosi Ejirin; Isale Agoro CDA, Epe LGA; Ideraoluwa CDA, Eredo LGA and Olugayan CDA, Imota.
Amongst the community that also benefited from the supply and installation of transformers are Idegun CDA, Imota; Gbaga Olorunda CDA; Adamo (Ikorodu North); Agura Central Gberigbe ( Ikorodu North); Garden Estate (Agboyi Ketu LCDA); Agunbiade CDA ( Somolu).
Not leaving out his statutory role as a lawmaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Tokunbo Abiru said he has moved on the floor of the Red Chamber Twelve (12) Bills and Four (4) motions which are at different stages of legislative considerations. Amongst the bills and motions are; Copyright Act repeal and re-enactment Bill, 2021; Dishonored Cheques Act Cap D11 LFN 2004 (Amendment) Bill 2021; Federal High Court Act (Amendment) Bill 2021; Federal Polytechnic Epe (Establishment, etc) Bill 2021; Utilities Charges Commission Act (Repeal) Bill, 2021; Control of Delegated Legislation (Control and Procedure) Bill, 2021; National Boundary Commission, Act (Amendment) Bill, 2021; National Economic Intelligence Committee (establishment, etc) Act (Repeal) Bill, 2021; National Economic Reconstruction Fund Act (Repeal) Bill, 2021; National Productivity Centre Act (Repeal) Bill, 2021; National Metallurgical Development Centre Act (Repeal) Bill, 2021; and Energy Commission of Nigeria Act (Repeal) Bill, 2021.
For motions, he has a Motion on the need to ban cryptocurrency in Nigeria, a motion on the urgent need for the rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Shagamu and Ikorodu-Itoikin-Epe roads to further bridge the infrastructural gap and enhance economic growth in Nigeria, another motion on the need to position Nigeria and Nigerian businesses for continental growth through the African continental free trade zone (Afcftz)
