In a demonstration of his commitment to supporting communities affected by the 2023 floods, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, has distributed 150 bags of 50kg rice to affected residents in Kosofe, Agboyi-Ketu, and Ikosi-Isheri.
The distribution, part of Senator Abiru’s promise to alleviate the suffering of flood victims, targeted areas severely impacted by the disaster. Communities such as Odo-Ogun, Ajegunle, Owode-Elede, Osho-Ogun, Agboyi-town in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, received aid. Similarly, affected residents in Agiliti 2, Maidan, Orisha/Isheri, Ajegunle/Idera/Kiokio, Isheri-North, Akinpelu communities in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, and Oworo coastal area, Ogudu, Ojota, Mende areas in Kosofe Local Government Area benefited from the relief efforts.
Collaborating with local government authorities, community leaders, and the Community Development Committee (CDC), Senator Abiru’s office ensured the effective distribution of the rice to those in need. This humanitarian intervention is part of the Senator’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable members of society, including his quarterly Food Packs Programme, which benefits thousands of households across the 16 LGAs/LCDAs in the Lagos East Senatorial District.
Representatives of Senator Abiru, led by Otunba Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, PhD, handed over the rice to the council chairmen, including Hon. Dele Oshinowo (Agboyi-Ketu), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada (Ikosi-Isheri), and Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe (Kosofe LGA). In response, the council chairmen expressed gratitude to Senator Abiru for his compassion and support during these challenging times.
