The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other Financial Institutions, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, kindled a fervent affection for technology as he graced the stage at the 2023 Hackfest organized by GenZtechies.

His captivating keynote address resonated with over 1,000 young software developers and tech enthusiasts gathered at the University of Lagos, Akoka, sparking an inspired call to harness innovation in the tech arena.

Drawing from his extensive career spanning three decades, he narrated the evolving journey of technology in the banking sector, marking its transformative impact, particularly through the emergence of new generation banks.

Senator Abiru, who hailed from the dynamic Lagos East Senatorial District, also shared his role as the Co-founder of the SAIL Innovation Lab.

According to him, this pioneering hub, a first-of-its-kind in the district, has empowered over 3,000 constituents, with a special focus on nurturing young talents, all within a mere two years.

However, the true essence of Senator Abiru’s message lay in his rallying cry to the young tech enthusiasts before him.

His words resonated with the boundless potential inherent within the technology sector, urging all attendees to seize the opportunities forged by the ongoing 4th industrial revolution.

In a poignant moment, Senator Abiru challenged the next generation of entrepreneurs and tech professionals to pursue excellence relentlessly.

He drew inspiration from the remarkable journey of Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, who co-founded Africa’s leading tech company, Co-creation Hub (CCHub).

Senator Abiru’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians echoed through his promise to continue supporting initiatives that foster growth in the tech and business sectors.

He lauded the GenZ Hackfest organizers for their dedication and commended their courage in shaping the future of tech talent.

Eniola Osabiya, visionary founder and convener of GenZHackfest, extended heartfelt gratitude to Senator Abiru and other sponsors for their unwavering support.
