The Nigeria Senate have this morning confirmed that the institution is ready to take new list of executive appointees from the Presidency as they finally confirmed the appointment of ambassadorial nominees sent in last month. This is coming after speculations were made that the Senate may in retaliation of forgery case against its principal officers by the executive arm of the government.
The Senate had at last week concluded with the screening of forty-seven ambassadorial nominees sent by the President. At the commencement of the screening, the Red Chamber had announced that it coyuld not carry on the screening due to the exemption of some States been represented on the list, as prescribed by the Federal Character on appointment.
Senator Ita Enang, the Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters, during an interview revealed that those States exempted from the list were as a result of non-availability of qualified nominees. He said the nominations of ambassadorial candidates had due process to guide the selection.
