Lionel Messi has taken his career goal tally to 930 after scoring a free-kick in Inter Miami’s 2-2 draw against San Diego FC in Major League Soccer on Sunday.
Messi scored in the 24th minute after he was fouled just outside San Diego’s penalty area.
The 39-year-old Argentina captain curled his left-footed effort around the wall, with the ball hitting the post before crossing the line.
The goal was Messi’s 20th in the 2026 MLS season and his 75th career free-kick goal.
It was also his 101st goal for Inter Miami, coming four days after he scored his 100th goal for the club during the Campeones Cup victory over Cruz Azul.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the milestone in a post on X on Sunday, noting that Messi had reached 930 career goals after scoring his 75th free-kick goal.
The milestone came after San Diego had taken the lead in the 12th minute through Anders Dreyer, who chipped Inter Miami goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair after receiving a through ball from Jeppe Tverskov.
Inter Miami later took the lead in the 74th minute when Luis Suárez scored to make it 2-1.
Dreyer completed his brace in the 82nd minute to restore parity and earn San Diego a point.
The result extended Inter Miami’s run to four consecutive MLS draws.
Inter Miami now have 46 points from 26 matches, with 12 wins, 10 draws and four defeats.
Messi continues to add to his career scoring record as he enters another season among the leading figures in Inter Miami’s campaign.
