The lawmakers of Jigawa State on Tuesday impeached their Speaker Idris Garba and immediately voted in a new replacement after 25 members signed the impeachment notice.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the former Speaker was kicked out of office for his abuse of office and supposedly high handedness while he was on seat.
Clerk of the house, Hussaini Ali who received the impeachment notice confirmed that the required number of members to sign the impeachment notice has been attained, hence, the Speaker had to vacate the seat.
Immediately after the confirmation, two members, Isa Dutse of Dutse Municipal Constituency and Isa Idris of Gwaram Constituency, were nominated for election to replace the impeached Speaker.
The election which had only 23 members present saw Isa Idris winning the seat after he polled 12 votes against his opponent who polled 6 votes while the remaining 5 members were indifferent.
