Football fanatics, Thursday went into a frenzy after Football Club Barcelona announced that Lionel Messi will be leaving the club.
Barcelona’s President, Joan Laporta in a press conference, Friday said he was not prepared “to put the club at risk” by renewing Messi’s contract, with Barca facing huge financial problems.
The Argentine Superstar, in a Press Conference held at the Auditori 1899, Nou Camp on Sunday confirmed his exit.
As tears rolled down Messi’s cheeks he said ” It’s time to say goodbye, it has been a long time, a whole life.
“I arrived here at 13 years of age and I cannot be more proud of what I have done and experienced in this city where I will surely return one day.”
The reality of Messi’s exit became clearer after Paris Saint-Germain reached out to the Barcelona star for a two-year contract worth £25m tax exclusive.
As the transfer deal with PSG is almost concluded, Barcelona players have taken to Instagram pages to leave several comments for their Captain, Lionel Messi.
