School In The Street, a non-profit organisation, has presented the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Babajimi Benson with the award of “Street Connected Children Hero”.
The group led by its Director, Mr Olakunle Sanni, presented the award frame to the lawmaker at his constituency office on Saturday.
Sanni explained that the lawmaker through his iCARE Foundation donated a well-kitted container which serves as mobile classroom for street-connected children, describing it as the first of its kind in Lagos, and indeed, Nigeria.
He added that Benson also provided cash support and food supply which enabled School In The Street to provide daily meals to a minimum of 50 street-connected children in Ikorodu throughout the COVID-19 lockdown.
While expressing his delight over the award, the lawmaker pledged his support for the organisation and promised to donate another mobile classroom to be cited in another part of Ikorodu to help educate more street-connected children.
