iCARE Foodbank: Rep. Benson feeds 30,000 households in five years

The lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Babajimi Adegoke Benson has doled out food items to 1,000 households through his iCARE Foodbank programme.

The iCARE Foodbank is an initiative of Benson’s iCare Foundation that distributes, on monthly basis, food and grocery products to individuals and vulnerable families within Ikorodu Division. These items are packaged in a bag called ‘APO AANU’.

The October 2021 edition was held on Saturday at his constituency office along Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu, where beneficiaries were presented with these consumables.

The event had in attendance several dignitaries including top politicians in Ikorodu Division, local government chairmen, traditional and religious leaders, among others.

Benson, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, noted that the gesture was in line with his campaign promise to ensure that no family in his constituency goes to bed hungry.

The lawmaker added that the people of Ikorodu will continue to benefit from the iCARE Foodbank as long as he remains in office.

“We have increased the number of beneficiaries by double considering the harsh economic realities. We believe that reaching out to the people is the best of representation we can provide.

“This is the fifth year of the iCARE Foodbank. With this period, we have been able to feed 30,000 families and we hope to increase the figures going forward,” he said.

Speaking with BlackBox Nigeria, one of the beneficiaries from Ijede community, Mulikat Akande applauded the lawmaker for his regular generousity.

She said, “We are grateful for what he has been doing in the last five years. I pray that the good Lord continue to bless and reward him.”
