Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially swore in the newly-elected 57 council chairmen in the state, comprising of 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas, LCDAs.
Recall that the election for Chairmen and Councillors was held on Saturday, July 24, in several polling units across the state.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won majority of the chairmanship seats despite low voter turnout and logistical challenges that marred the polls.
Sanwo-Olu, speaking at the event held at the Lagos State House, Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday, tasked the newly-elected chairman, as well as their vices, with ensuring that the electorate benefits from the true dividends of democracy.
