Rumble In Agege As Tinubu Birthday Advertorial Cause Political Discomfort

The birthday celebration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu may have come and gone but it has left some in dissatisfaction as to how some event were addressed, such was the advertorial placed by Agege Local Government as some names were omitted from the list of facilitators of the advertorial, an aggrieved member of the All Progressives Congress has revealed.

In a Facebook post, the concerned party member disclosed that the some members of the party hierarchy played unnecessary politics in listing the names that was published.

He said the advertorial which was used to congratulate the former Lagos State Governor should not have been used to score political points and should have included all party stakeholders in the Local Government.

Agege Local Government and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s  Birthday
Advert.

Our attention has been drawn to an advert placement by Agege Local Government in the Nation newspaper of wednesday, march 29th, 2017 page 67, congratulating Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his 65th birthday anniversary.
The following points are worthy of note;

Agege Local Government should not in any way involve herself in the internal politics of Agege APC.

The council has the right as an entity to felicitate with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu because of the role he has played and is still playing in the politics of Nigeria in general and  Lagos in particular.

That the underlisted names that signed on behalf of the council (except the administrator)are neither staff nor management of Agege Local Government.

The said advert is currently creating ripples, disaffection and disharmony among members of Agege APC because of the politics of exemption used by the council  and facilitators of the advert to intentionally omit prominent leaders of the party in the advert.

That the apex political leader of Agege as of today remains Professor Babatunde Samuel whose name was conspicuously missing from such an advert from the local government shows disregard for the party hierarchy.

That the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) of Lagos state which consist of prominent indigene of Lagos state equally placed an advert on the same day to congratulate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and due honour was given to the 21 member committee with the name of Professor Babatunde Samuel and the present speaker of the Lagos state assembly Rt.Hon.Mudashiru Obasa included in the advert. So how Agege Local Government omitted that of Professor Babatunde Samuel calls for concern.

The member representing Agege Federal Constituency was missing from the list of names  while the two members representing Agege at the State Assembly were included.

Also, some past chairmen of the council were included while others were omited from the list.

The political party leader of Agege in the person of Hon.Wale Adeyeye was also left out.

It will be in the best interest of the council to be fair to all and not use the council funds to execute political propaganda as done  with Asiwaju’s birthday celebration advert.

We are not against the names mentioned in the advert but the need to be fair to all and stay off the internal politics of Agege.

Other local government did felicitated with Asiwaju and did not mix politics with it because it was signed solely by the Sole Administrator.

We will appreciate that these errors as highlighted are looked into and addressed as this will foster unity in Agege.

Thank you.
