Rotary Club Donates Bore Hole to Army Cantonment

The Rotary Club of Ikeja District 9110, Nigeria, on Thursday, officially commissioned a Bore Hole as they donated a Sumec generator to the Oshodi Barracks Community of Ikeja Army Cantonment.

Speaking at the occasion, the District Governor, Rotarian Dr Jide Akeredolu expressed delight in donating the bore hole project to the service of humanity.

Rotary Clubs, according to him, identifies the needs of various communities and try to meet some of them as it is obvious that Government alone cannot do everything.

He further expressed strong opinion that provision of a bore hole with clean and pure water would have tremendous impacts on the community and reduces to barest minimal water-borne diseases. He additionally stated that, the rotary club of Ikeja had in the past donated projects to the Cantonment. Nothing in return is expected but prayers while anticipating presence of rotary within the barracks to pave ways for better service.

Responding to the Donors, the Commander, 9 Brigade Brig Gen Musa Awwal Etsu- Ndagi represented by Commander 9 Brigade Garrison, Lt Col EJ Nkereuwem appreciated and commended the contributions of the Rotary Clubs to improve the standard of living of mankind world over and in particular in the Army Cantonment. These, according to him will complement the efforts of the chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai in providing adequate welfare for the troops and their families. Gen Etsu-Ndagi pointed out some of the structural projects in the Cantonment under renovation, construction, reconstruction and remodeling in various phases.

The District Governor, Rtn Dr Jide Akeredolu, donated the sum of One Million and One Hundred Thousand Naira to towards the Cervical Cancer vaccination project under the Disease Prevention and Treatment to assist women with cervical cancer. Other Dignitaries that added colors to the event included the Doyen of the District and past Governor, Prince Julius Adelusi Adeluyi, the incumbent president, Rot Olumuyiwa Fagbola, Staff officers and soldiers of 9 Brigade as well as their families.
