The Rivers State Government has refuted the claims made by some media outlets that Governor Siminalayi Fubara has fired his Chief of Staff, Chief Security Officer, CSO, all Local Government Chairmen and the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Simon Amadi.
The government said that these reports were rumours and urged the public to ignore them.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joe Johnson, issued a press statement on behalf of the government, stating that Governor Fubara is a humane and God-fearing leader who follows the rules and procedures in his administration.
Johnson said that the public would be duly informed of any changes in the government’s personnel at the right time.
He therefore said that he would keep the public updated on the developments in the state as the Commissioner for Information and Communications.
The reports of the alleged sackings came after a bomb blast at the Rivers State House of Assembly and an impeachment notice served on the Governor by a group of lawmakers loyal to Nyesom Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT. The group was led by Martin Amaewhule as its Speaker.
However, another faction of lawmakers, loyal to Governor Fubara, emerged with Edison Ehie as its Speaker. Ehie had earlier been removed as the Leader of the House.
