Residents of Majidun/Ogolonto protests total blackout inflicted by IKEDC

RESIDENTS OF MAJIDUN /OGOLONTO PROTESTS TOTAL BLACKOUT INFLICTED BY IKEDC

 

The resident of Majidun/Ogonlonto Community area of Ikorodu are seen this morning protesting at the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company Owutu Undertaking office.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that It is now more than 19 days since the undertaking denied the community power supply causing a total blackout in the community.

The crisis started when the community petitioned the company complaining about the outrageous bills and recently installed trackers which has greatly reduced power supply. The community had demanded for the removal of the tracker, reduction in the estimated and outrageous billings and immidiate and timely distribution of the prepared metre.

 

 

IKEDC must have perceived this as an afront and consequently disconnected the community from power supply.

 

 

 

Leaders of the community including the Vice Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA; Hon Sesan Dada, the Baale of Ogonlonto community; Chief O.Y.O Fatola and the resident of the community were of the opinion that even though the blackout is up to a month now, it remain unperturbed and will not succumb until the request of it petition is attended to. They are also requesting for immediate restore of power.

 

 

 

Asoro Abubakri Olatunji, a resident of the community and the legal adviser of National Youth Council Ikorodu West LCDA called on Consumers Protection Council (CPC), Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and other stakeholders to look into the matter and ensure IKEDC do the needful.
