Rep. Babajimi Benson’s iCare Foodbank Brightens Ikorodu’s Festive Season, Commissions Isiu Modern Market

In a remarkable display of generosity and community care, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, the Federal Lawmaker representing Ikorodu, organized the December edition of the iCare Foodbank program to alleviate the challenges faced by constituents during the festive season and also commissioned a modern market for the usage of the community in Isiu.

The event held at Rep. Benson’s constituency office in Ikorodu, distributed 1000 food items known as ‘APO ANU’ to families, elderly individuals, widows, and vulnerable members of the community. The food distribution aimed to provide essential support during the festive period and ensure that everyone could partake in the celebrations.

Mayor Dean Sanwo-Ola, the Director-General of the iCare Foundation, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming turnout and the continuous support received from the community. He emphasized the importance of following program rules, highlighting the increase in distribution from 500 to 1000 bags to accommodate the growing needs during the festive period.

 

Alhaji F. I. contributed to the generosity of the event by donating 100 pieces of bread, further enhancing the support provided to the community. Mayor Dean Sanwo-Ola underscored the significance of adhering to guidelines and efficiently managing the program to ensure its success.

Deacon Busola Isikalu Iyaoloja General Ikorodu Division conveyed her thanks to Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson for the privilege and extended greetings to dignitaries, leaders, and the iCare Foundation. She emphasized the readiness of marketers to support the administration’s efforts for community well-being.

 

Deacon Busola Isikalu outlined the marketers’ 7-point agenda, focusing on unity, prosperity, collaboration with leaders, and supporting the political administration for a better community.

 

In his address, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson expressed appreciation to political leaders, community leaders, the iCare Foundation, and everyone present for their support. He acknowledged the backing received from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, highlighting his administration’s numerous achievements in schools, road construction, and healthcare provision in Ikorodu.

 

Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson assured marketers of his support for their 7-point agenda, reinforcing his commitment to collaborative efforts for the betterment of the community.

The event witnessed the presence of notable figures, including Mr. Bayo, Vice Chairman of APC Party Ikorodu West, Bldr Daini Sesan, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Mrs. Enifemi, Chief Imam, Baale’s, CDA Chairman, Woman leaders, and Mrs. Wonuola, Women Leader Lagos East APC. Their collective presence reflected the unity and shared commitment to community welfare.

 

The iCare Foodbank Program’s December edition stands as a testament to Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson’s dedication to uplifting the community and spreading joy during the festive season. As the year comes to a close, the event echoes the spirit of collaboration and compassion needed for a stronger and more vibrant Ikorodu.

 

Also as part of the event of the day was the commissioning of a Modern Market at Isiu in honour of Oba Olukayode David Raji, Eweye of Isiu Kingdom. The market marks the first of its kind in the kingdom since the emergence of the new ruler.
