In a bid to raise awareness and fight the alarming rise of child trafficking and sex slavery, renowned crime journalist Juliana Francis is set to launch her latest book, titled “We Are Priceless.”
The book launch event is scheduled to take place on August 31, 2023, at the POWA Hall, Oduduwa, off Sobo Arobiodu, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
“We Are Priceless” revolves around the compelling story of five brave children who managed to escape the clutches of sex slavery, to which they were lured by trusted individuals.
The book delves into the vulnerabilities faced by children and the heartbreaking reality of human trafficking, child labor, and abuse in Nigeria and beyond.
The event will be graced by esteemed dignitaries from various fields, including Dr. Solomon Arase, former Inspector General of Police and Chair of the Police Service Commission, Ms. Olufunke Fayemi of the Report Women Network, Mrs. Evelyn Usman, Vice-President of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), and Dr. Godwin Morka, former director of the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), among others.
Juliana Francis, a passionate advocate for uncovering crimes against humanity, particularly those affecting the girl-child, has been a prominent figure in investigative reporting.
Her dedication to the cause has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including being the first female overall winner of the esteemed Wole Soyinka Prize for Investigative Reporting in Nigeria.
“We Are Priceless” serves as a rallying call to all sectors of society, urging Nigerians to join the fight against human trafficking and protect innocent children from falling victim to these heinous crimes.
According to Francis, combating the menace requires educating and empowering the youth to understand the dangers and actively participate in ending them.
