President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of Hon. Zacch Adedeji as the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

This move comes with the directive for the outgoing FIRS Chairman, Mr. Muhammad Nami, to take a 3-month pre-retirement leave, leading to his eventual retirement from service on December 8, 2023.

Hon. Zacch Adedeji, a first-class graduate in accounting from the Obafemi Awolowo University, steps into his new role with a wealth of experience.

His most recent role was serving as the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue.

Before that, he served with distinction as the Oyo State Commissioner of Finance and as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).

Adedeji’s appointment in an acting capacity is for 90 days, expected to be confirmed as the substantive Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service for a term of four (4) years in the first instance.

These directives from President Tinubu have taken immediate effect, signaling a smooth transition in the leadership of the FIRS.

Adedeji’s extensive background in finance and revenue matters positions him well to take on the responsibilities of this important role.
