Port Harcourt Flood Kills Mile One Trader, Leaves Others Stranded

 

Heavy flood experienced in the city of Port Harcourt, Rivers State has left one dead and many others stranded as the heavy downpour continues.

Reports gathered from the oil rich State revealed that a petty trader in the famous Mile One market was electrocuted when his house was flooded at a time electrical appliances were on.

Stranded residents of PHC disclosed that the sand filling of Eastern by pass water way has forced the water to fight back in the community causing them to become homeless.

It will be recalled that the commercial city of Lagos was also affected by the flood over the weekend as it disturbed the voting exercise in some parts of the State.

Areas such as Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki, Surulere and other parts of Lagos State has taken its share of the ugly flood which have rendered property worth millions of Naira useless and many stranded. It was learnt that most of the flood incidents were caused by clogged drainage.
