The Nigeria Police Force has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt in the Ejigbo area, rescuing a member of the Ladipo community and preventing what could have been another high-profile abduction amid growing security concerns across the country.
In a post made by one AbdulRahman Olakunle Ali on Facebook, the incident disclosed that the victim was targeted by suspected kidnappers for the second time after paying a hefty sum for his release, but swift intervention by police operatives frustrated the plot and ensured the person’s safety.
Details of the operation shows that about nine attackers were killed by the police and a Lexus vehicle they brought was confiscated by the police.
With this swift response, the community members have commended the police for their prompt response, which led to the failed abduction.
The development comes at a time when insecurity continues to dominate national discourse, with several kidnapping incidents reported across different parts of the country.
Concerns have been heightened by the ongoing captivity of schoolchildren abducted in Oyo State, a case that has drawn widespread public attention and calls for stronger security measures.
AbdulRahman say the successful rescue in Ejigbo highlights the importance of timely intelligence gathering and rapid response by law enforcement agencies in tackling the growing threat of kidnapping.
Efforts are reportedly ongoing to track down those behind the failed abduction.
Residents have urged security agencies to sustain the momentum and strengthen surveillance in vulnerable communities to prevent future attacks.
The incident serves as a reminder of the persistent security challenges facing the country, even as authorities record occasional successes in thwarting criminal activities.
