The Nigeria Police Force took to Twitter on Saturday to remind citizens to prioritize safety while celebrating weddings and other social events.
In a post on their official handle, accompanied with images showing phone numbers of each Public Relations Officers (PRO) of police for every states, the police urged revelers to “drip their drip and look fine” but also to “shine their eyes” and be vigilant at all times. The message emphasized the importance of safety and responsible behavior, cautioning against causing trouble or disrupting the peace.
The police also assured citizens that they are ready to intervene and “settle the kasala” if any situation arises. They encouraged anyone who witnesses something untoward to speak up and report it.
The tweet, which was posted in pidgin English, reflects the police force’s efforts to engage with the community in a friendly and approachable manner. It has garnered widespread attention and praise on social media, with many Nigerians commending the police for their proactive approach to maintaining law and order.

Nigerians reacted to the police’s tweet with @abdulhamidys commenting, “If we celebrate too much and borrow a car to oppress our enemies, your officers will change the party location to their office.”
In response, the police tweeted, “Why would you engage in borrowed poses? Your overdoing it is what attracts our attention.” They added, “However, if you still wish to show off with your borrowed car, please call our number immediately if you encounter any trouble.”
