Police Deploys 8,000 Officers To Kaduna Over NLC Protest

The Nigeria Police Force has deployed additional 8,000 Police officers to Kaduna State in a bid to prevent a mass protest by the National Labour Congress.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the mass protest by the NLC was to agitate against the State Government after it sacked thousands of it’s members, which included teachers and other civil servants.

Speaking with the press, Kaduna State Police Commissioner, Agyole Abeh dislcosed that no protest will be allowed in and around the State. He noted that a ban has been placed on protests and it has informed the NLC.

Recall that Governor Nasir el-Rufai earlier in the week warned teachers planning to go on strike to join and get sacked. The Governor alleged that the teachers and NLC were bent on blackmailing the State.

The Chairman of Kaduna State National Union of Teachers, Mr Audu Mba disclosed that the State Government can right it’s wrong by reducing the pass mark of the Apitude Test by 10%. He disclosed that the reduction in the pass mark will reduce the numbers of affected teachers from over 22,000 to a figure around 7,000.

As at the time of filing this report, the newly deployed Police operatives have been stationed around the State, especially at the State Headquarters of the NLC and other major highways in the State.
