Brazilian soccer legend, Pelé is said to be “recovering well” at a Sao Paolo Hospital according to his daughter, Kely Nascimento on Friday.

Although, the Albert Einstein hospital stated that the 80-year-old Edson Arantes Se Nascimento (Pelé) had returned to intensive care. This was after “a brief breathing instability” on Thursday night. The hospital later said that Pelé was currently stable in “semi-intensive” care, and he “continues recovering,” giving no further details.

Kely, on Friday, posted a picture with her father on Instagram, which she said she had just taken in his room at the hospital.

“He is recovering well and within normal range. Promise! The normal recovery scenario for a man of his age after an operation like this is sometimes two steps forward and one step back. Yesterday he was tired and took a little step back,” she wrote.

She added, with no further details, “Today he took two forwards!”

Earlier, the hospital had not issued a new statement on Pelé’s health since Tuesday, when he was removed from intensive care. But the soccer legend confirmed later, on social media that he is feeling well and that his family members visited him during the day.

He said, “I continue to smile every day. Thank you for all the love I get from you.”

Recall that the tumor was found when Pelé went for routine exams at the end of August. Pele’s surgery took place on September 4.

Pelé won the 1958, 1962 and 1970 World Cups, and is still the Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 77 goals in 92 matches.
