The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has appointed Amb. Umar Damagun, the Deputy National Chairman, North to replace Dr. Iyorchia Ayu as acting National Chairman of the party.

This was announced in a press conference on Tuesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba at the party’s secretariat.

Damagum is to replace Ayu following his suspension as the party’s national chairman.

Recall that Ayu had been suspended based on an accusation by his party members of his alleged involvement in anti-party activities.

Although Ayu had fought back saying that the signatures were forged and gotten under duress, a High Court in Benue State, yesterday, had ruled against Ayu ordering him to temporarily stop acting as the party’s national chairman.
