How Pastor’s wife organised her own kidnap to scam church members
Victoria Elijah Ndu, a 32-year-old woman married to a church pastor in Akwa-Ibom has been nabbed for masterminding her own kidnap. Victoria was arrested moments after she was released from a self-organised kidnap which involved her younger brother, Victor Okon Akang.
Both culprits conspired to announce that Victoria was kidnapped in order to get money off unsuspecting members of her husband’s church.
Victoria had told her husband that she was going to the market but instead traveled to her younger brother’s house in Imo state where she hid. From there, calls were made to her husband and church members demanding N3million in ransom.
The troubled husband quickly reported the incident at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Nsit Atai who then transferred it to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department who swung into action and saved the day.
Victoria was initially rescued in Awo Omamma in Imo state on Monday, August 24 by men of the anti-kidnapping squad from the state Police Command in Ikot Akpan-Abia. However during investigation, some loopholes were discovered in her statement which led to her interrogation. She later confessed to the crime saying she did it because she wanted to raise money to bury her late parents.
