Pandemonium has erupted in Benue state, where gunmen attacked several communities, leaving a significant number of persons dead.
The incident occured on Wednesday, as five persons were killed in Ayilamo, a village in Logo Local Government of Benue, alone.
The north-central state police public relations officer, Sewuese Anene, confirmed this attack.
According to her, in Ayilamo, people were also injured several.
She also cited another attack, that occured in Mbachohon community in Gwer-West Local Government.
However, she didn’t give full details, stressing that details in respect of that incident were not available.
But, unconfirmed reports indicated that six people were killed in the Mbachohon attack.
“The attacks are unfortunate; more security men are being deployed to the areas to restore peace,” Anene told the News Agency of Nigeria.
