#OsunDecides: Adeleke in early lead as results trickle in

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke is reportedly in an early lead as results begin to trickle in from the different wards in Osun State in the ongoing governorship election.

Adeleke won polling unit 009, ward 02, Abogunde in his hometown, Ede North LGA of the state. He polled 218 votes to beat his main challenger, incumbent governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who secured just 23 votes.

Oyetola, who is seeking re-election, had expressed confidence that he would win the election after casting his vote at Unit 2, Ward 1, LA Primary School, Popo, Iragbiji in Boripe LGA.

The governor won the polling unit of his predecessor, Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, though the duo had fallen out due to political differences.

In the polling unit situated in Isare Ward 8, Ilesha East, Oyetola secured 164 votes to defeat Adeleke who polled 134 votes.

As results are expected to trickle in from more wards, there are feelers that the APC is losing its traditional strongholds to the PDP — a development that is said to have unsettled the ruling party and supporters of the governor.
