Osun APC Drops ‘Presidential’ From Campaign Committee Name Amid Leadership Dispute

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has removed the word “Presidential” from the name of its campaign committee following disagreements over the composition and leadership of the party’s campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The committee, initially announced as the Presidential and Parliamentary Campaign Committee, has now been renamed the Parliamentary Campaign Committee.

The development followed opposition from some members of the party’s State Executive Committee, who questioned the composition of the original committee and the procedure through which it was established.

The initial committee was announced by the Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, with the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, appointed as its Director-General.

However, the announcement reportedly sparked divisions within the party, particularly after another presidential campaign structure emerged under the coordination of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Four members of the state executive committee, including the Publicity Secretary, Wole Adunola; Welfare Officer, Adesola Ayangbile; Assistant Organising Secretary, Rasheed Adeniji; and Ex-Officio member, Abiola Ololade, rejected the earlier committee list.

The disagreement reportedly attracted the attention of the APC national leadership, which opposed the existence of parallel presidential campaign structures in the state.

In the revised arrangement announced on Tuesday, Lawal retained Oyebamiji as Director-General of the Parliamentary Campaign Committee.

The party said the committee would focus on mobilising support for APC candidates contesting National and State Assembly seats in the 2027 general elections.

It also pledged to work with members of the existing Presidential Campaign Council to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates.

The adjustment comes as the Osun APC continues to grapple with internal disagreements over its campaign leadership and preparations for the 2027 elections.
