Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has responded to comments made by coach Finidi George regarding his attitude towards the national team.
Finidi, who has resigned, commented on Osimhen’s commitment to the Super Eagles, stating that he wouldn’t plead with the star striker to play for the team. Osimhen was incensed by these remarks and, during a live Instagram video on Saturday, he elaborated on the circumstances surrounding his absence from the Super Eagles’ last two World Cup qualifiers, emphasizing that he and his doctor had briefed Finidi adequately.
“I anticipated things like these would happen, which is why I have videos and screenshots from when I called Finidi while I was with the doctor in Germany,” Osimhen explained.
“After sustaining an injury in Napoli’s recent game against Lecce, I underwent an MRI scan. I called Finidi from there so he could hear the doctor’s assessment.”
“I asked him (Finidi) to allow me to join the camp and be with my teammates. I even spoke with some of them, but he insisted I stay with my family.”
“I’m not addressing anything new; everyone knows I give my all whenever I play for my club or the national team. I’ll share screenshots and videos of my conversation with Finidi to clarify things for those who believe his statements.”
“I’ve lost respect for that man because, before I disrespect anybody, I always show them respect.”
