Oshoala wins fifth CAF Women’s Player of the Year award

Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala has emerged as the Women’s Player of the Year at the 2022 CAF awards.

She beat Grace Chanda (Zambia/BIIK Kazygurt) and Ajara Nchout Njoya (Cameroon/Inter Milan) to win clinch the prestigious award for a record fifth time.

Oshoala also etched her name as the first player in history to win 5 African Player of the Year awards.

At the 2019 CAF Awards, she had equaled countrywoman Perpetua Nkwocha’s fourth CAF Women’s Player of the Year Award.

Despite suffering from an injury, the 27-year-old striker finished the season with 20 goals as a top scorer in Spain’s women highest division.

She also became the first Nigerian and African to win the Pichichi Trophy, the prize for the player with most goals in a season.
