Orelope-Adefulire, Sunny Ajose Join Governance Advisory Council In Lagos

Though not yet officially announced, it appears Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State during the second tenure of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, and Hon. Akinsanya Sunny Ajose (OON), a former Lagos State Head of Service between July 2004 and February 2006, have been elevated to the rank of Governance Advisory Council in Lagos State.

Congratulatory messages have been coming in for the duo in their respective areas of political dominance, Orelope-Adefulire in Alimosho and Ajose in Badagry.

In a post on a WhatsApp group, the Chairman of All Progressive Congress in Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA which falls under Alimosho LGA, Mukaila Yinusa wrote,” Congratulations on your new position as GAC MEMBER IN LAGOS STATE. I know you’ve worked hard to reach this point, and I’m so happy that you’ve been recognized for your accomplishment with this new assignment. It is well-deserved.

 

“What a wonderful blessing to have this new political appointment, congratulations. The dedication and ability that got you here will continue to serve you well as you move along your path. Success is yours!”.

 

Also sharing the news on his Facebook account, Sewedo Samuel, the Chief of Staff to Badagry LGA, congratulated Ajose whom he called his Benefactor.

 

“Congratulations to My Father, Leader, Mentor and Benefactor Hon. Akinsanya Sunny Ajose (OON) as he takes up new responsibility as a member of Lagos State Governance Advisory Council.

 

Although some of us feel it is long overdue, you grew organically through the ranks. With this new accomplishment, you have cemented your legacy and we are proud to call you our Apex. Long live our Apex Leader in Badagry Federation,” he said in his post.

 

The Governance Advisory Council is highest political decision-making body in Lagos State. The council was formed and headed by APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which consists of major stakeholders of the party within the state overseeing the affairs of the party. It takes major decisions such as mode of primaries, candidates of the party in elections and even the executives of the party

 

The members of the Governance Advisory Council include; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Femi Hamzat, senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Sen Oluremi Tinubu, and her two colleagues in the red chamber – Solomon Adeola (Lagos West) and Tokunbo Abiru (Lagos East). The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila; former governor of Lagos State and current minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa; ex-Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji and former deputy governor Mrs Idiat Oluranti Adebule.

 

Apart from elected politicians admitted into the elite council, there are also Prince Tajudeen Olusi; Otunba Henry Ajomale (former Lagos APC chair), Prince Abiodun Ogunleye (ex-deputy to Tinubu), Cardinal James Odunmbaku, Otunba Bashiru Alebiosu, Omooba Murphy Adetoro, Sen Anthony Adefuye, Alhaji S.A Seriki, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun and Prince Rabiu Oluwa. Others are Chief M. A Taiwo, Alhaji Mutiu Are, Dr Yomi Finnih, Omooba Muyiwa Sosanya, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, and Mr Wale Edun 

 

With the appointment of Orelope-Adefulire, Sunny Ajose, the would be replacing, late Prof. Tunde Samuel and former APC Deputy National Woman Leader, late Mrs Kemi Nelson who died earlier in the year.
