Rivers State governor and presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, Nyesom Wike has declared that it would a require a president who is “mad” to pull Nigeria out of its many problems.
Addressing delegates of the opposition party in Kogi State on Wednesday, Wike noted that the country’s unity is under serious threat under the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The governor asked the leadership of the PDP to present him as its presidential candidate, boasting that he is the only one who can wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2023.
He said, “The energy in me is too much. I want to use the energy to work for the country.
“I have made myself available for my party, and to be voted to become the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Never in the history of this country have we so divided. I can bring back the country on its track of greatness. It doesn’t matter where you are from. It takes a mad man to govern Nigeria.”
In the past weeks, Wike, like other PDP presidential aspirants have been on consultative tours to delegates in the states of the federation, ahead of the party’s presidential primaries billed to hold on May 28.
