One Year After Appointment, Lagos State Physical Planning Commissioner Resigns

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, handed in his letter of resignation to the office of the Lagos State Governor, on Monday.

It is assumed that the resignation is triggered by regular collapse of buildings in the State with one seven-storey building collapsing in Lekki axis of the state on Sunday over the weekend .

Accepting the resignation, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso said the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu appreciates the Commissioner for his services to the State and wished him success in his future endeavours.

Noting that there would be restructuring of the Ministry and its agencies, the Governor warns all players in the sector to respect the law or face the consequences of any indiscretion, no matter who the perpetrators are.

“The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has accepted the resignation of the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako.

“This is a prelude to the restructuring of the Ministry and its agencies. Governor Sanwo-Olu thanks the Commissioner for his services to the State and wishes him success in his future endeavours.”

It would be recalled that the 54-year-old Dr Salako assumed the office on the 21st of march 2021; and resigned shortly after his one year in office.
