Members of Yoruba socio-cultural group, Odua People’s Congress, OPC have declared support for Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu popularly known as BOS, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Lagos state for the 2019 governorship election, BlackBox Nigeria reports.

The members numbering into several hundreds, moments ago, stormed the campaign office of the BOS Independent Campaign Group in Ikeja stating that they have decided in good faith to pitch their tent with the APC.

Led by the Deputy National President of the OPC, the members were excited as they officially joined the APC stating that the move have been on for a while but it was unfortunate that it didn’t happen before the demise of the OPC founder, Dr Fredrick Faseun who died last December.

According to the Deputy National President, there have been moves to reconcile Faseun and APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu before he passed on.

The OPC members were received on behalf of the APC by the Director-General of the BOSICG, Tayo Ayinde who expressed excitement over the support declared by the OPC. With Mr. Tayo Ayinde his deputy, Cardinal James Odumbaku better known as Baba Eto as well as other directors in the ICG.

Amongst other promises made, the OPC leadership specifically declared that they will mobilise massive support for Babajide Sanwo-Olu as well as other party candidates for other positions especially in the Southwest where their members abound.

The Yoruba nationalist group has for a long time pitched its tent with the opposition party, PDP with the duo of Dr. Fredrick Faseun and Aare Ganiyu Adams both working for the party.

With this declaration, the APC appears stronger ahead of the general election which begins next month.
