Rumors circulated Saturday afternoon suggesting that veteran Nigerian actor Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, known professionally as Olu Jacobs, had reportedly passed away.
The speculation gained traction when Dr. Chinonso Egemba, popularly known as aproko_doctor, tweeted: “Rest in Peace, Sir Olu Jacobs.”
However, Betty Irabor, a Global Keynote Speaker, clarified on her social media account: “Olu Jacobs is well and alive… Please ignore all rumors of his passing.”
In a video shared by Lara Wise on Facebook, Jacobs is seen getting his hair cut, with the barber mentioning the circulating rumors of his death.
Jacobs is widely celebrated as one of the greatest and most respected African actors of his generation, often compared to Pete Edochie for his influence and cultural impact in bridging older and newer generations of actors.
