We Are Not Fishermen, We Want a Befitting Statue- Badagry Indigene Reacts To Statue Placed By Lagos State

A concerned indigent of Badagry, a native town in Lagos State has called out the Government for placing a wrong statue that do not represent the good people of the town.

The aggrieved  took to his Facebook page to state his displeasure over the statue issue.

It was gathered that the Lagos State Government in its beautification scheme had placed a statue of a supposed Fisherman at a popular round-about in the Local Government. With that, the State signified th City represents major dealers in fishing.

In his reaction, Miyise Richard noted that a statue displaying freedom will rather be better than that of fishermen, which he said can be best displayed in far away Epe.

He explained that fishing was not a dominant occupation and it has not been representing the good people of the town.

Hello the Sons and Daughters of Badagry!
We just got a Statue pushed on us in the town..
We appreciate this but really it’s a misplaced subject!
Badagry town is not known for Fishing..if this has been placed in Epe..it would have been perfect!
Some people already started calling the town”Apeja town”, Eleja bustop!!
Oh my!!
Why didn’t comprehensive consultation made before the erection of this Fisherman???
Or can the people of Badagry tell us one family that is known for great fishing??
Fishing is just a game for us cos of the coastal region !

We have Proposed a grand statue of a Librated slave for that spot naming it a FREEDOM PARK or LIBERTY PARK !!
The point of No Return and the Point of Return is around the Area..
We should have a massive statue of a freed Slave with his Chains breaking loose and shackles on his feet!
WE NEED THAT SPOT AS FREEDOM PARK WHICH WILL GO A LONG WAY TO ELEVATE THE GLORY OF THE TOWN BADAGRY!!
Where people all over the WORLD CAN COME AND FEEL THE LIBRATION OF THE SOLD SLAVES OF THE WORLD!!
We are not Apejas o!!
Let us get it RIGHT this time
Let’s bring back the lost GLORY!!
My take!
