Popular Nollywood actor, Damola Olatunji, has taken to social media to celebrate successfully passing his driving test in the United Kingdom, describing the achievement as a significant milestone.
Olatunji shared a photo of himself beside a learner-marked vehicle shortly after the test, expressing excitement over the accomplishment.
In his post, the actor noted that passing a driving test in that part of the world is no small feat, hinting at the strict standards and rigorous assessment process involved.
“CONGRATULATIONS to me… if u know, you know… passing a driving test once in this part of the world is a big deal,” he wrote.
The actor also used the moment to reflect on road safety practices, drawing comparisons with experiences from Nigeria.
He recounted being told about a road safety personnel who allegedly failed a driving test multiple times, attributing it to issues around competency verification and enforcement systems.
According to him, while systems and frameworks may exist, challenges such as weak institutional capacity and lack of political will often hinder consistent implementation.
He further pointed to what he described as low accountability, limited infrastructure, and corruption as major setbacks affecting road safety standards.
Olatunji concluded by stressing the need for improvement, suggesting that stricter enforcement and systemic reforms could help address the issues identified.
