Nigerian movie lovers have been thrown into excitement after movie production bodies — FilmOne Entertainment and Leon Global Media — announced the remake of the 1996 Nollywood classic, ‘Owo Blow’.

Musa Jeffery, one of the co-writers of the movie remake made the disclosure via his Instagram handle on Tuesday, stating that the two media houses will be teaming up to work on the legacy left by legend Wale Fanu.

The original work was released in 1996 and was directed by Tade Ogidan, and had three parts – The Genesis, The Revolt, and The Final Struggle.

It centres around the journey of a young man, Wole, who had to drop out of school after his father was unfairly imprisoned. Wole faced the travails of life and had to succumb at a point, becoming a pickpocket, then a notorious armed robber. He later took a turnaround and left his wayward life to become a responsible member of the society.

The movie featured top stars, including Taiwo ‘Ogogo’ Hassan, the late Kayode Odumosu (Pa Kasumu), Ayo Mogaji, Adewale Elesho, late Sam Loco Efe, and Lanre Hassan.

Femi Adebayo, Rachel Oniga, and Bimbo Akintola also got their debut appearance in the movie.

The new work in progress is co-written and directed by Daniel Ademinokan, and it is expected to hit the cinemas this year.
