JUST IN: NNPC trunkline in Delta explodes

Residents and commuters of the Ughelli South Local Government of Delta State were thrown into disarray when explosion rocked the Abura Crude Trunkline reportedly operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Corporation,
The immediate and remote cause of the explosion could not be ascertained at press time; however, the explosion began around 4p.m on Friday evening.
BlackBox Nigeria learnt that the Otu-Jeremi market, a part affected by the explosion, was more or less like a grave yard, as traders; customers and residents dashed for safety for fear of been recreated by hands of fire.
BlackBox Nigeria also gathered that the affected trunkline accommodates the Oil Mining Lease, OML 34 pipelines operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC/ND.
As at press time, firefighters had not successfully contained the fire as it’s likely to spread to neighboring communities.
