The organized labor of Nigeria has declared a nationwide strike set for Wednesday, 8th November 2023, in response to the disturbing events that transpired in Imo State on Monday.

The catalyst for this action was the unfortunate manhandling of the national president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero.

Deputy president of the NLC, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, and the deputy president of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) held a joint briefing with journalists in Abuja.

During this press conference, they issued a resolute six-point demand to the federal government, seeking to prevent the impending strike.

One of the central demands is the immediate removal of the Imo State commissioner of police, the area commander, and other state government officials allegedly involved in the brutalization of Ajaero and other workers who were subjected to humiliating assaults.
