#NigeriaVsGhana: Journalist gets trolled on Twitter as he narrates how security operatives assaulted him

Award-winning Nigerian sports journalist, Shina Oludare has joined the list of victims of trolling on popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter.

This happened when Oludare took to his verified Twitter page to narrate his unfortunate experience of police/army brutality while covering the World Cup play-off between Nigeria and Ghana on Tuesday evening.

According to his Twitter thread which has gone viral with many engagements, the journalist explained how he was attacked and beaten by 3 soldiers and several policemen while he was recording the stampede that occured at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

He explained further that even with his identification as a journalist, the security operatives did not reason with him as his mobile phone was damaged in the process.

After sharing his plight at the hands of the unidentified security officials, reactions from different tweeps came in but to Oludare’s greatest shock, rather than sympathy, he was taken back to the past and dragged for the choices he made during the 2015 elections.

Some of the tweeps replied that he had it coming, so he shouldn’t have complained about the Tuesday assault because he got what he bargained for.

As a reaction, the situation got tense as some of the tweeps began sharing a tweet he (Oludare) made on March 31, 2015, where he congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for emerging the winner of the elections at the time.

“Dear Compatriots, I Oluwadare Oluwashina Charles celebrate Muhammadu Buhari’s victory because I have chosen hope,” he had written.

In reaction to the 2015 tweet, here are some replies of some tweeps below:

@JnrMCspencer said, “You choose hope my brother, more slaps in advance.”

@Polymat43955419 tweeted, “The wheel turns surely and in full circle… Hope keepeth thee and your troubles.”

@DanielRegha noted, “Oludare in as much as I condemn brutality, u voted & celebrated Buhari’s victory in 2015, that’s says a lot abt ur kind of person cos voting for this present govt a second time proves u are either a sellout or yet to have a reality check. Hope u think thoroughly next time…”

@Arizto101 opined, “I don’t understand why you’re complaining sha. You asked for this. Celebrate him abeg leave us out of it.”
