#NigeriaVsGhana: Akin Alabi slams Sunday Dare over poor organisation at MKO Abiola Stadium

A member of the House of Representatives, Akin Alabi has berated the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare over the poor organisation at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja where Nigeria’s Super Eagles ended their dream to feature in the 2022 World Cup.

On Tuesday night, the Nigerian side played against the Black Stars of Ghana with the game ending in a 1-1 draw. The Ghanaians, however, secured a place in Qatar 2022 based on the away goals rule.

The unfavourable result of the game has since generated reactions from Nigerian fans who were seemingly displeased by the team’s failure — including a now-viral video of angry supporters who invaded the pitch and destroyed facilities.

Sharing his thoughts on the game on Twitter, Alabi, a known football enthusiast and supporter of Nigerian club Shooting Stars, noted that the organization he saw at the stadium was more shocking than the match result, describing the situation as “disgraceful”.

“I’ve seen my team lose many times and I accept it as part of the game. I was at the stadium today and the organization shocked me more than the result. The entire sports ministry, starting from Mr Sunday Dare absolutely bottled it. Disgraceful,” he tweeted on Tuesday evening.
