Nigerians sign petition against INEC Chairman over alleged rigging of 2023 polls

Nigerians have signed a petition against the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu for allegedly rigging the 2023 presidential election in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The presidential election which saw the emergence of Tinubu as the winner has stirred discomfort in some Nigerians as they attribute Tinubu’s win to be a result of multiple riggings allegedly championed by Yakubu.

Prior to the signing of this petition, Nigerians had signed a previous one urging the US, Canada and UK to cancel Yakubu’s visa following the same claim of his role in APC rigging of the election which over 300,000 Nigerians signed.

Senator Dino Melaye, the PDP agent, had also laid an accusation of rigging against Yakubu at the International Conference Centre (ICC) during the collation of the election results.

At the time this report was filed, over 150,000 Nigerians had signed the petition.
