Nigerians Call Out Ganduje Over Poor Handling Of COVID19 With KanoFailedKano
Social media users have started calling out the Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on how his administration has handled cases of COVID19 patients by trending the KanoFailedKano campaign.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that Kano residents had earlier faulted the Nigeria Centre for Diseases and Control (NCDC) for not establishing facilities to contain and control the spread of the nobel coronavirus. The residents later directed their calls to the State Government after gathering that it was the State’s duty.
The residents lamented that no proactive measures were put in place even after the State recorded it’s index case before there was a surge in the number of infected persons. Despite not having cases after a month that the virus has been in Nigeria, Kano has now recorded 73 cases so far (as at 11pm April 23rd).
A lawmaker from Delta State, Hon Ben Igbakpa while reacting to the #KanoFailedKano campaign disclosed that the Northern State maybe on the verge of COVID19 explosion due to the poor management of the virus by the State Government. He noted that while Governor Ifeanyi Okowa took several preventive measures before Delta State recorded it’s index case, Governor Ganduje did not do anything in that regard.
His tweet reads, “There is cause to believe that Kano State is on the verge of #Covid_19 explosion.
The people alleging that #NCDCFailedKano are insincere. The truth remains that #kanofailedkano.
Governors like @IAOkowa locked down Delta State even without a confirmed case. Kano left doors open.”
It was further gathered that the State Government have not been doing any sensitisation of COVID19 awareness as some of the locals still don’t the deadly virus is real. This development has caused some of the locals to start treating persons with wild symptoms of COVID19 with herbs concoction just as some persons that have tested positive have escaped from the State Isolation Center.
