A Nigerian UK Based lady with @Tutsy22 Twitter account has reacted to claims on Twitter that fellow Nigerians are not helped in settling in the UK.
Many Nigerians blamed their relatives who are Nigerian UK base for not helping them to settle as they arrive in the States.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian UK base said their experience had made them stop helping their Nigerian fellows to settle as they in turn pay good deeds with bad ones.
A Twitter user@Tutsy22 said my own experience is a deeply upsetting experience and painful experiences have become the obstacle in helping others.
Adding that So, the lesson here is not that ‘Nigerians already settled in the UK are not helping other Nigerians,’ Far from it.
A user @TokunboAnthony shared his experience to have met a guy too who just landed in the UK and he Put him up for 3months. Long story short, almost 20 years in the country & the only time I got arrested was when I took him in, due to all manner of fraud he did with my address & name (from my letters). Took 6years to clear my name
In his reaction@KingZuwa said ” this was exactly my experience in June this year. Rent room for a guy I called my friend, he moved out of the house without paying rent for 2 months and was left with a £1000 rent. luckily for me the agent guy saw my passport and recognise me (he is a friend of a friend).
Another tweet from @streakme03 said ‘Awon yeah lasan ti ba yah rere Je.’ I.e The bad people have spoiled the good ones. One has to be careful now more than ever before. If you have to help then do background checks discreetly.
Also, @VictoriaChidim7 added that sometimes human beings are the reason one thinks twice to help human beings but we still gotta do good.
