Nigerian Senate Separates State And LG Joint Account
The tie between State and Local Governments have been cut short by the Senate as their joint account have been separated.
The resolution is part of the ongoing voting on Constitution amendment at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.
The abolishment now empowers each Local Government in Nigeria to maintain its own special account and operate same like States.
The attempt to move certain items to Concurrent Legislative List however met a rejection. The Bill was aimed at giving more powers to the States.
