Nigerian Doctor and Artist Fola David Sets New World Record with “Unity in Diversity” Painting

Adefemi Gbadamosi, known as Fola David, has made history by surpassing the existing Guinness World Record for the world’s largest painting by an individual.

The previous record of 629.98 square meters was set by Ravi Soni (India) in Rajasthan, India, on November 30, 2021.

Fola David’s artwork, titled “Unity in Diversity,” aims to expand to 1,000 square meters.

Fola David, a Nigerian medical doctor and hyper-realism artist, portrays Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups through their traditional attire, languages, and cultural expressions in his painting. Among the featured elements is a portrayal of Farooq Oreagba ojude Oba viral picture.

The record-breaking attempt is taking place at Onikan Stadium in Lagos from July 16 to July 21, 2024.

Fola David has painted notable figures such as Ooni of Ife Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi and musicians like Patoranking, Trey Songz, Wale, Keri Hilson, R. Kelly, Jidenna, 2Face Idibia, Iyanya, DJ Jimmy Jatt, and Alibaba.

In addition to his artistic achievements, Fola David uses his platform to raise awareness about skin disorders through the Fola David Foundation. His artworks challenge social stereotypes by depicting imperfections like wrinkles, vitiligo, freckles, stretch marks, and ichthyosis.
