Nigeria Customs file to set aside court ruling annulling duties on personal effects at airports

In response to a judgement of import duty on goods and personal effects contained in passenger baggage, the Nigeria Custom Service, Wednesday, filled for setting aside the judgement delivered by the Federal High Court, Abuja on May 13.

According to the Public Relations Officer, Customs Service, DC, Joseph Attah, the judgement will be set aside on the following basis;

‘No fair hearing before judgement was delivered.

‘Misapplication of the law to arrive at the said judgement.

‘The judgement is a nullity among others.’

Hence, the Service, is seeking for the case to be heard on its merits and opportunities for all parties to adequately address the honorable court, Joseph Attah explained.

While urging the general public to await the outcome of the case, the Service assured Nigerians of its readiness to comply with the outcome of the judicial process.
